Jensen Construction Corp. History
Oscar
Schneider founded Jensen Construction in the early 1900’s.
He came to Kewanee as a superintendent from another out of town
company to build the Kewanee Star Courier Building. He liked the
town of Kewanee and decided to stay and start his own company calling
it Schneider Construction. With his new company he built Visitation
school, the West office of the Kewanee Boiler Corp., Central school,
Annawan school, Toulon grade and high schools, and the Galva Armory
to name a few.
In the 1960’s
Schneider Construction was purchased by Rusty Jensen who then called
the company Schneider and Jensen. After becoming a non-union company
in the early 80’s, Mr. Jensen named the company Jensen Construction
as it remains today.
In the mid 1980’s
Louis Betti purchased Jensen Construction. He ran the company for
approximately 10 years building many local icons such as; Johnson
Saulk Trail’s bath house, Kewanee’s Burger King, Pizza
Hut, Hardees South, various work for most of the local schools and
GTE.
The
current owner of Jensen Construction today, Robert Whitmer, is dedicated
in continuing the experienced high quality work that all of our
local clients and many neighboring cities and states have come to
know. He has built and serviced many assisted living facilities
such as the Hawthorne Inn in Peru IL, Kewanee Estates, Liberty Village
